All about the kids!!

This blog is going to update a few things about the kids so I hope that you will enjoy the tid-bits of information on them. ..brought to you by Ann (the proud parent :-)
I will first start with cute Sydney: School will be starting for Sydney tomorrow (wednesday) and today we went to her school to meet her first grade teacher ( Mrs. Gardner). I am very impressed with her and Sydney is really excited to start. I could tell that she was a little nervous about making sure she will know where everything is but, I reassured her that she will do fine and her teacher will be there to help. At her school they let the parents eat lunch with the kids and so I am going to go tomorrow with one of my friends Wendi that also has a first grader and eat lunch with our kids. Sydney is excited about that. Sydney has been wanting to review all her letters, math, reading etc. so that she will be well prepared. I have to say that I am sad to let her go all day..I know that it will be nice to have just two kids at home but sydney is such a help to me and I will miss her during the day. She has also been getting ready for soccer. She went to her first practice last week and has found that she is going to really like soccer. Her and I went school shopping last week for clothes and I have found that it already matters what you wear in first grade. She would see something and say "megan wore that, I want one also" etc.. (see what you have to look forward to..with the girls :-) But overall school shopping was a success and she had to come home and model all of her clothes for Mike and the kids. And she already has her outfit picked out and ready to go (HMM.. I wonder where she gets that from?)
Now for Ashley: Cute little Ashley, is also excited to start school. I have enrolled her in a preschool that she will start the day after Labor Day it is two days a week. She just wants to be just like Sydney and cannot wait to start school. I will be taking her to an open house next thursday and we will meet her teacher. She likes to try and write her name and write the alphabet just like sydney. I am excited for her to go to school becuase that is all she talks about. She loves to sing and tumble around the house. She will be starting tumbling in a few weeks and cannot wait. I am trying to find activities that will fill her day full because she will really miss sydney while she is gone.
Onto Garrett: Our sweet boy is going to turn 1 on Saturday..which I can hardly believe. He is soo fun! and has just a happy disposition. I will enjoy the two days a week that I get to spend with him by myself. He is starting to stand by himself and loves to walk with the help of the furniture. He really does not show an interest in walking just yet but he is probably the worlds fastest crawler. Mike and I are amazed at how fast he can cruise through the house. It is fun to see the differences between boys and girls. Garrett love to stand on the couch and throw all is toys over the back and say "uh oh" as he throws each one over and laughs.. he also loves to growl.
Well that it a little bit about the kids. We will send another update next week with pictures. We are going to go on our first family campout ever this weekend. (call Ripley's) Mike has rented a trailer so I could consent to go and not sleep on the ground in a tent. We will be gone friday afternoon through Sunday...it should be fun!! We love you all!!

St. George Weekend!!

Well, where do I start...
Ann and the kids went to St. George Tuesday morning with grandma while I had to stay home and to the dreaded thing that us heads of the households love to do called work. Ann and the kids had fun swimming and shopping until they dropped, and enjoyed the beautiful weather in Dixieland. I came down on Thursday after work. Friday when we were down there we swam and relaxed and of course.....fished!! That's right boys and girls...what would a trip to St. George be without my fishing poles?? Not a trip at all! :) Yes...when the kids woke up early the only thing to do to let Mom sleep is to take the kids fishing! Yes they did have fun in case you were wondering. Yes we did catch some too! On Saturday after swimming and shopping and relaxing, Ann and I took the girls to Fiesta Fun while Garrett stayed in bed back at the condo with Grandma and Grandpa. We rode the Bumper Boats and did some racing in the race cars.
The first race consisted of Sydney and I and Ashley and Ann teamed up in our two-seater go-carts. Ann and Ashley had the lead for a few minutes but yes...Sydney and I came from behind to take the checkered flag.
The second race it was Ashley and I and Sydney and Ann teamed up. Ann and Sydney took the lead right off the bat and Ashley and I couldn't make up any ground and came in second. Needless to say we all had an absolutely great time that night.
Sunday was very interesting. Usually it only takes about three and a half to four hours to get home......well let me tell you about the trip from H E double hockey sticks!!! :o

While on our way home just before Cedar City there was a Jeep that caught on fire that slowed traffic down... then there was a brush fire on the freeway that closed the freeway for about three hours. While we were sitting in traffic our dear little Sydney tells us that her stomach was hurting and that she needed to....puke!!! So my sweet wife gives her a capri sun box...mind you have you seen a capri sun box....there is a gaping seam and it doesn't hold anything!!!!!!!! So our sweet Sydney starts to chuck in this box....well you guessed it...it landed right in her lap, right through the seam in the bottom of the box. So I go to the back and try to start to clean it up with what little stuff we had to clean up up-chuck!!!!! So through my gagging and watering eyes and trying to hold my "stuff together" there was this nice lady in a motorhome right next to us that asked if we needed some garbage bags and some paper towels. OF COURSE!!!!! I couldn't thank this nice lady enough for her generosity!! So after that episode we finally managed to squeeze through a semi and the motorhome to get from the far left lane to the right lane to get to I-70 to finish our "ADVENTURE" home. Needless to say it took us 6 hours to get home from St. George. The moral of this story is to pack some extra garbage sacks for "just-in-case" purposes!!
